Q5 or Q6 Max: Which DayRoll Suits You?
The DayRoll TeamThe short answer: both cameras give you the same warm, grainy look straight out of the camera. Take the Q5 DigiCam if you want the classic digicam experience in the smallest and simplest package. Take the Q6 Max if you shoot a lot in one go and want more resolution, more zoom and more room before you stop to transfer photos.
There is no better and worse here. We sell both because they suit different nights.
What the two have in common
This matters more than the differences, so we will say it first. Both cameras produce the same family of look: warm tones, visible grain and no editing step. Both are pocket sized, both have a flip screen for selfies and group shots, both shoot photo and video, and neither needs an app to work. If the look is what you are here for, either one delivers it.

Take the Q5 if
- This is your first digicam and you want the least to think about
- It is going in a jacket pocket or a small bag most nights
- You have your heart set on Orange
- You are buying it as a gift and want the safest choice
- You want the lowest price in the range
Take the Q6 Max if
- You shoot a full day or a full weekend without stopping
- You want more resolution to crop into or to print bigger
- You want a bit more reach across a crowd or a beach
- You are the person in the group who always ends up holding the camera
- You want the true built-in flash for that hard, bright party-photo look
- You want it in Pearl or Pink
Honest limits, on both
Neither camera is a professional tool and neither is pretending to be. Both look their best in decent light, and indoors and at night the flash is doing the work, which is exactly why photos come out looking the way they do. If you want clinically sharp, evenly lit images, a phone will beat both of these and we would rather tell you that now than after you have bought one.

Questions we get asked
Is the Q6 Max just a better Q5?
Not really. It is our flagship version of the same idea: a true built-in flash, more resolution, more reach and a second battery, with the same simple way of shooting. The Q5 is still the smaller and simpler option, and the only one in Orange.
Does more megapixels mean better photos?
It means more detail to work with. It does not change the character of the image, and character is the reason most people buy these.
Can I print the photos?
Yes. Both work with the DayRoll Pocket Printer, which prints without ink or cartridges in about a minute.
What if I pick the wrong one?
Unused cameras in their original packaging can be returned within 60 days of delivery for a change of mind, with return postage paid by the customer. Every DayRoll camera also comes with a complimentary 12-month warranty against manufacturing defects, and your rights under the Australian Consumer Law and the New Zealand Consumer Guarantees Act apply on top. The details are in our refund policy.
Still deciding? Put them side by side in the range.
